Magazine Collage Tarot Deck

November 2018 –  Printed Card Deck, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3750 x 4200 px (entire deck)

For this freshman year project I was drawn to the style of digital collage. I drew heavy inspiration from typical modern overproduced stock imagery seen in magazines and other publications to create a mystical parody of them through tarot cards. The characters and their meanings correlated greatly with how we crave excitement and intrigue in our everyday lives.

This method of digital photocompositing/collage was something I hadn’t played much with prior to this project. When I created the first card (the Fool) I latched on to the inherent ridiculousness and manic jubilant tone of stock photos that could be further enhanced through adding and pasting other colorful modern imagery on top of them. I have a great interest in the occultic and the mystic undercurrent of daily life which drove me to create a project with those themes.
